Riverina Smokehouse Jerky wins GOLD!!

Knights Riverina Smokehouse Original Jerky has won gold at the Sydney Royal Fine Food Show!

Having previously been awarded bronze in 2016 and 2017, this year the jerky which is produced locally on Fitzmaurice Street scored 90 points and brought home a gold medal.

The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS) has rewarded agricultural excellence since its establishment in 1822, setting the benchmark for distinction through the Sydney Royal Easter Show and the Sydney Royal Wine, Chocolate, Beer & Cider, Dairy, National Honey and Fine Food Shows.

Knights CEO Deanna McNaughton said “This win is a fantastic achievement by our team who have worked tirelessly to perfect the jerky recipe over the years.”

“Whilst the awards have seen an increase in artisan jerky entries over the past few years, we really believe that our product which is made from premium Riverina beef, and undergoes three days of handcrafting, curing and drying, is a true reflection of our knowledge, experience and passion as artisan butchers, creators and makers,” Deanna said.

Knights also won four bronze medals for their Riverina Smokehouse BBQ Jerky, Knights Riverina Choc Dipped Oranges, Knights Riverina Hazelnut Biscotti and Knights Riverina Toffee Apples – which feature local produce including oranges from Griffith, Happy Wombat hazelnuts from near Batlow and apples from Batlow.

Sydney Royal hosts an extensive array of competitions each year, shining a light on Australia’s greatest and most deserving producers. Hosted by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW, the competition aims to promote Excellence in Agriculture amongst all industry stakeholders.

Riverina Smokehouse Jerky is available from Wagga Cellars, the Union Hotel Bottle Shop and Knights Meats & Deli.
